9/11 debunkers violate the official 9/11 report while defending the official report. Getting a bit desperate are we?
The Bush administration failed to provide proof of osama bin ladens guilt, so the burden of proof is still and always will be on them.

Batman Falls on Hard Times

Poor Batman, regulated to a freakin Best Western.  The days of the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, W, etc. are long gone.  Dick Grayson and Damien Wayne probably pissed away the fortune while Bruce has been gone trapped in in time.  Poor Tim doesn't know about it since he has been out actually doing something productive with his time, like looking for Bruce.

Although, on the other-hand, it's probably a good hideout because even the Joker wouldn't stay at this dump.

Jim Lee's Designs Yet Another Wonder Woman Costume

Now THIS is the Jim Lee we all know and love.  Let's all just forget about the recent Wonder Woman in pants design he rolled out.  Everyone has a bad day now and then.

But here we see Jim Lee's designs for Wonder Woman in the upcomming DC Universe Online game coming this fall.  This is classic Wonder Woman, and classic Jim Lee.

Danni Minogue… is she still on X-factor?

There’s been a big scandal this week about the use of “Autotune” on X factor!

As a singer myself the thought of using a sound technology to make up for lack of singing ability appals me! I’ve never sought a career as a singer, but I’ve always had a good singing voice. I regularly lead worship singing and I’ve never needed artificial assistance. And trust me, I’d be told if I was off key – or at least never invited to sing again! And I’ve been a regular for over 15 years.

I’ve also heard plenty of great singers live! So why would anyone who’s any good need an autotune? Surely it’s a basic that a singer MUST be able to sing in tune? Or am I missing something here?

I feel like being bitchy and saying “So that’s how all those Pretty girls (and boys) become famous when they can’t sing! The technology does it for them!” I don’t think I’m jealous. No, honest, I don’t! But is it too much to want to hear decent singers? And not pretty, half-naked, wanabees who wouldn’t know a well pitched melody line from their elbow.

And the nudity is another issue, I understand men would probably disagree! But am I the only person who wants to see female celebrities cover up more? I don’t find it in the least attractive! Less is more as they say! Although they may think that’s what they’re doing? Rolls eyes. I’m not averse to nudity, heck, I do life drawing. But there’s a time and place and I think certain types of dress prevent an artist from being taken seriously! Take Beyonce… she’s talented, she sings songs about being an independent woman! But how many men really pay attention to her voice? Honestly?

I heard a quote from Siousie Sioux  around the time of the Susan Boyle phenomenon. Siousie felt women were under more pressure to look good now than when she started her career. I fear she may be right! But what went wrong?

Musical talent should be heard…being seen is irrelevant! Why, in an age of “acceptance and equality” are we even more obsessed with image? I know, this from a visual artist! What can I say, I love music, and want to see talent not fakery!

Anyway, back to the X-factor!

Danni Minogue

Now, last time I checked Danni Minogue was an X factor judge! Which is why I chose her for my subject this week. OK, I admit it, I have a real problem keeping up with the ins and outs of the current celebrities! Maybe the link is tenuous, but hey, it’s fairly topical! And there’s something about a baby…last month!

I’ve heard Danni sing, but I couldn’t tell you whether she used Autotune. Let’s assume not, for legal reasons! And her older sister is Kylie! And she has to compete with her success! I would sympathise! But Danni’s not exactly struggling herself!

I think I might do Siousie Sioux next week!

"Calvin and Hobbes", meet "Joker and Lex"

This comic strip has been everywhere over the last few days.  If you've seen, please ignore, but if you have not, please enjoy this wonderful comic entitled, “Joker and Lex,” by Lee Bermejo and writer Brian Azzarello.  This  Calvin and Hobbes-esque contribution to the Superman/Batman all-star 75th-issue spectacular is simply amazing.  This strip would make even Bill Watterson smile.

NY POST Breaks News that DC Comics Will Have Two Batmans (Bat-Men) and Bruce Gets a New Suit

THE NEW YORK POST broke a HUGE comic related story this morning, not only will Bruce Wayne be returning to a new set of Batman duds, but his first sidekick, Dick Grayson, will continue to fight crime on the streets of Gotham as Batman, and under the banner of “Batman Inc.”

But what does that mean for the Batman titles moving forward?

Thankfully for Batman fans, DC's The Source gave us the breakdown.

Starting in November, DETECTIVE COMICS, BATMAN and BATMAN AND ROBIN will feature the ongoing adventures of Dick Grayson as Batman, with Damian as Robin. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne will take center stage in the pages of Grant Morrison and Yanick Paquette’s BATMAN INC. and writer/artist David Finch’s BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT.

Batman Group Editor Mike Marts unveiled the Cover from BATMAN INC and told the The Source:
“Just as readers were getting comfortable with the idea of former sidekick Dick Grayson playing the role of Batman, along comes Bruce Wayne’s triumphant return to the Cape and Cowl. Is Gotham City ready for two Batmen? Is the world? And who’s to say the fun will end there?”
I am so pissed about this announcement that I can't even think straight.

Bruce Wayne is Batman.

Bruce Wayne is Batman.

Bruce Wayne is Batman.

Maybe if I say it enough it will come true and everything will be restored to normal in the Batman and DC Comic world and DC won't treat Batman and like Wolverine.

I will return at some point to rant and rave about the absurdity of this decision, but for now enjoy Dick Grayson fans.

Proposal fail

Chilean miner proposes from 2,300 feet underground

Disclaimer: I start a lot of these with disclaimers, don’t I? I’m not a hopeless romantic. In fact, romance is not really a strength of mine, period. (Just ask Scott who got a car battery for Valentine’s Day while we were dating.) So this could be some sappy-mushy-gushy thing to some people, but I just find it a great excuse to be cynical and sarcastic. Don’t be offended because you’re a hopeless romantic and you find it sweet as all get out. I just don’t roll that way.

On the surface, this seems like the sweetest thing ever. However, if you delve into it a little bit, it's actually a big, fat fail.

In the annals of unique marriage proposals, this one may take the wedding cake…
Honestly, that is the corniest lead of all time. The author should be shot. Cute turns of phrase are fine in stories like this (I’ve addressed this before – see here), but come on, if you’re going to use one, at least make it good.

Esteban Rojas asked for his sweetheart Jessica Ganiez’s hand in matrimony from a half mile underground.
Yeah, and? If you told me he squinched his body to fit in the six inch wide hole so he could ask her in person, I might be more impressed.

And even though she said yes, it might be Christmas Day before he gets a chance to kiss the bride.
Actually, I think it might be later than that. I mean, he might be out on Christmas Day and he can kiss her. But unless she’s waiting at the top of that hole in a wedding dress with a preacher, she’s not going to be “the bride” and therefore he’ll just be kissing his fiancé. Ahh, semantics.

“When I get out, let’s buy the dress and we’ll get married,” Rojas wrote Ganiez on scrap paper.
Because that’s all you need to get married – a dress.

Ganiez, 43, gave romantic Rojas an enthusiastic “yes.”
You know how this could be better? “Ganiez, 43, gave Rojas a ‘meh, I’ll believe it when I see it.’” Don’t believe me? Read on…

Rojas and Ganiez have been have been together for 25 years, raised three children and are now grandparents twice over. Yet although they were legally hitched in a civil ceremony years ago, Ganiez never got a big church wedding, as is customary in Chile.
I’m not belittling Chilean customs, really, I’m not, but they were married. Civil ceremony or not, they were married. Ergo, this story really has pretty much lost all the “coolness” it could have (if I wasn’t jaded and cynical). For the record, it’s pretty much custom here to have a big wedding, but not everyone does. Just because you don’t have the big wedding does not mean you’re still single.

EDIT - due to being called out in the comments, please ignore the following paragraph. I did, however, leave it in the story instead of just deleting it so, if you end up reading the comments, you're not looking at it like, "what the heck are they talking about?"
AND … why does she have a different last name, anyway? Not that it’s necessary to take a name, but if they are all about customs and stuff, why didn’t she do it? (Then again, maybe she was waiting to take his name for when she got the big wedding. So materialistic. Come on, all you need is love. Have The Beatles taught us nothing?)
END EDIT

“He always said getting married is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, and he would ask me when the time was best. Obviously, what has happened made him do it.”
I don’t know about you, but I think this sort of falls on the list of shitty reasons to get married – only trumped by getting a girl pregnant.

Brief explanation of my anti-shotgun wedding stance: Not that it’s a bad thing for a guy to “want to do the right thing,” and you have to admire that. However, a lasting relationship cannot be built on a sense of guilt. It’s just the way I see things. And no child should have to grow up in an environment that was all a lie – it’s not fair to the kid, or the parents.

Back to the point at hand – he only proposed because his life flashed before his eyes and he felt guilty for not fulfilling his promise.

Either that or he anticipates a big payout from the mine company for the “pain and suffering” he and his 32 co-workers will receive and he figured he’d better use it for a wedding instead of a new car. It’s whatever.

Supplies ranging from bedding and clean underwear to diversions such as iPods and gaming consoles have been lowered down a duct to the trapped miners.
I am glad to know they are getting clean underwear and iPods. Nevermind clean water. How about spending money to pay more people to get them out faster as opposed to buying video games for them?

"We have talked about it before, but he never asked me. I think it’s a good idea.”
How did he never ask you if you were married in a civil ceremony? Something isn’t making sense to me.

And why wouldn’t you say it’s a good idea? People say the stupidest shit when they get around reporters. I swear.

Each miner only had 20 seconds to converse, and even with a wedding proposal in hand, Ganiez feared the “W” word might not actually come out of Rojas’ mouth.
Wonton? Wallaby? Winter? Wings? Willow? Whip It? (“When a problem comes along, you must whip it … whip it good.”)

“I was worried he might not mention it again,” Ganiez told CNN.
Is this a habit of his? If so, you’re an idiot for staying with him so long if he makes this a routine to mention things to get your hopes up but then never mentions them again.

“But he said we should get married in church. He’d asked me if I’ve already chosen the dress.” Ganiez managed to use her fleeting seconds to tell Rojas the answer was yes.
After 25 years of waiting for him to ask, I should hope she had a dress picked out and had a seamstress on speed-dial.

Now Ganiez is setting up a bridal registry — a new refrigerator and a food cooker are on her list.
A fridge. Wow. To think I asked for a GameCube (and got it) on my registry. But apparently all I needed to do to get a GameCube wasn’t get married, but rather get trapped in a mine. Go figure.

But she confided she misses her intended terribly, and will wait as long as it takes to hold him in her arms once again.
What else is she going to say? “Clock is ticking, he best be out by Christmas or the deal is off. I can’t wait forever.”

“He always said he planned to grow old with me, and I plan to grow old with him.”

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
Oh all I wanna do is grow old with you

I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

I'll miss you
Kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold

Need you
Feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed when you've had too much to drink
I could be the man who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you

Come on, if you tell me you didn't think of that when you read that quote, you're lying. You know it.

“Our love is very deep.”
Of course your love is deep. It’s 2,300 feet deep right now. Doh.

Futurama's 100th Episode Tackles Issue of Illegal Aliens

It’s been a rocky road for gfest’s current favorite cartoon show.  You remember the cancellation, the network changes, the semi-return on DVD, and then the full return. But Futurama is capping is fantastic sixth season with its 100th glorious episode, and, as you can see, someone’s planning a party.

On Thursday, Futurama wraps with “The Mutants are Revolting,” a sharp finale probing the open wounds of illegal aliens. Once ass-kicking space babe Leela is outed as a mutant, she spearheads an underground revolt from the sewers to strike terror into the hearts of the surface dwellers.

Read the episode's official description from Comedy Central:

The Planet Express Crew has been hired to make their 100th delivery and Bender begins planning the party of the millennium. Meanwhile, however, the rest of the crew attends a fundraiser where Fry accidentally outs Leela as a mutant who is illegally living above ground. For that, she is banished to the sewers where her fellow mutants reside in futuristic squalor. Feeling guilty about his slip-up, Fry and the rest of the gang – along with the mutated members of Devo – join Leela in an epic mutant revolution against the surface dwellers.

While this episode sadly marks the end of this fantastic season of Futurama, hopefully Comedy Central will announce soon that we can raise our tankers of Slurm to the next 100 episodes.

Until next season, ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD.

Playboy Launches Grand Theft Auto Like 3D Video Game

With the business of girlie magazines quickly going the way of the CD player, Playboy is desperately trying to find a new business model, and new ways of making money.  Apparently, they've pinned their hopes on putting "Playboy caliber women" into video games.

Hef's company has partnered with online game company Bigpoint to distribute select titles through Playboy's website, beginning with Bigpoint’s Poisonville, which is a browser-based MMO crime game (in the spirit of Grand Theft Auto) that puts gamers into a fictional U.S. city where crime and corruption rule the streets.

Players must complete a series of missions in order to counteract corruption, regain respect, and rebuild their reputations. Throughout the game, players will encounter beautiful, Playboy-caliber women. In full-3D, players can drive a variety of vehicles, engage in player vs. player combat, and compete in ongoing competitions designed to simulate gang warfare - all through a standard web browser.

Putting Playboy models into video games is an idea that's hard to argue with.  Having said that, Poisonville doesn't exactly look like the greatest video game ever made.  Call us when Playboy releases Womb Raider.

Thank You Mr Curley: "Debunker" PROMOTES the "Building What?" Campaign & Pushes Discredited Material (again) to Discredit Himself

Pat Curley of the Screw Loose Change blog was nice enough to help promote the "BuildingWhat?"campaign recently by posting their ad.

Pat, your strategy of posting their video to help out and then inspiring truthers to donate more by insisting that the campaign is failing is brilliant, simply brilliant, my good man! Your genius efforts have now aided in the raising of over $32,000!

This is just like when you claimed that NYC-CAN.org didn't reach the goal of 32,000 signatures for their ballot initiative when they actually gathered 80,000, while you also ridiculed the first weeks numbers of their recent fax campaign. You lit a fire under our butts on that one, helping raise the numbers from 133 in the first week, to 217 the second, 221 the third, and 408 the fourth! All the while, you downplayed our improvement and kept us striving for more!

Again, thank you for promoting our efforts to the uninformed, while also misrepresenting the numbers when we surpass our goals by miles, and for making us feel like not reaching overly ambitious goals is somehow a let down. You keep us inspired brother!

OK, now let's get serious.

Pat states, "LOL! The usual bit about how "nobody knows that another building, which was not hit by a plane, collapsed that day." I have always said that Building 7 is a thin reed to build popular support for the Troof, for the simple reason that it takes too many logical leaps to get to the point where it fits in with the conspiracy theory."

I'm not sure if Pat is really saying that it's false that many people don't know about Building 7, or if he is just saying that it's not surprising because in his mind it was a non-event. In either case, David Ray Griffin's essay "Building What? How SCADs Can Be Hidden in Plain Sight" debunks both of these notions. After providing evidence that the collapse of WTC 7 was a "deliberately suppressed story," Griffin states, "...The collapse of WTC 7 has been effectively hidden, even though it has existed in plain sight all these years. Even the bare fact of the collapse itself has been so effectively hidden that in 2006 over 40 percent of the American public did not know about it, and in 2009 a judge in New York City, upon hearing a reference to Building 7, asked: 'Building what?'"

The essay also addresses a perceived "logical leap" in the idea that conspirators beyond the 19 hijackers had a hand in WTC 7's destruction, Griffin writes:
I need to respond to an obvious objection: If those who were responsible for bringing down Building 7 were going to need to suppress the video of its collapse, why did they wait until late in the afternoon, when the air was clean and cameras would be trained on this building, with the consequence that we have perfectly clear videos of the collapse of this building from various angles, each one showing its straight-down free-fall descent?
Here is an answer to that objection akin to Griffins by Debunking the Debunkers blog contributor AdamT.

Pat states, "It is interesting to see more of a side view of the collapse (at about 16-17 seconds in), because it refutes Box Boy's claim that the collapse was symmetrical, and straight down through the path of most resistance."

As we've demonstrated before, this video refutes nothing.

Got up too early....

...because I wanted to have this for my cousin's wedding. Oh glorious times! And I am not allowed to drink.....

I need a nose job!
Bye!

Life Lesson #452

If you find a screw on the floor, you shouldn't throw it away as it probably goes to something VERY important... like your refrigerator door.

A few weeks ago Nick came home late from work and innocently opened up the refrigerator door and it literally fell off the hinges and onto the floor.  My typical self would have started yelling, but instead I grabbed my camera and took the below pictures.  Sometimes when life gives you lemons, all you can do is laugh and drink lemonade.

Nick - "Jenn what did you do to the refrigerator door?"

OMG - the refrigerator door just came off!  Now what?

Keep in mind, this happened at around midnight, so waiting to deal with this in the morning wasn't an option!
