Christmas Treats: Dundee Cake

Dundee Cake is a famous traditional Scottish fruit cake with a rich flavour. Dundee Cake contains a lot of dried fruit and is decorated with almonds on the top, eaten especially in the UK. It became popular at the end of the 19th century. It is often served at Christmas. It can contain whisky or another spirit.
Dundee cake is a popular alternative to the traditional Christmas cake. Originally a Scottish Christmas cake from Dundee, it is light as well as spongy and not as rich as the traditional Christmas cake.
This cake keeps very well in an airtight tin and tastes all the better if kept for a few days before cutting.
