Seven years
That's what we looked like seven years ago - August 9, 2003. (Yes, I'm aware how boobalicious that picture is.)
I can't believe we've made it seven years - it hasn't been easy all the time either. Shoot, there were two years when we didn't even know the other one existed because we were both working and going to school full-time.
We've also been blessed with the best kid in the whole world. But you know, we admit we're biased.
Sometimes it's hard to believe how long we've been together. We met each other the week after I turned 18 and have pretty much been together ever since. We did have a few months where we "broke up" but yet we hung out just like we did when we were dating, so I guess that doesn't count. Yes, we had been dating for almost five years when we finally got married, but, well, we wanted to wait until we got out of school. (The first time, obviously. We didn't go back until after we had been married. Funny part about that - he went back because I decided to. But yet he was ready to graduate and, had he not come up with a class for me to take, I would have dropped out three credits shy of my Masters. Sort of ironic how that works out.)
We still have our issues. We still have our disagreements. And we'll never see eye-to-eye on a lot of things. That's marriage, I guess.
This wasn't meant to be funny - it's totally out-of-character for me, I know. But then again, so is being married for seven years. It's not really that I planned to get divorced or anything (does anyone really plan that?), but I am surprised we've lasted this long. And we're still fairly happy for the most part.
Then again, it might have to do with the fact we made the pact never to fall asleep mad. Unfortunately that often means staying up fighting until 2 a.m. C'est la vie. It's all about give and take, right?
