News at 11: Man charged with first-degree murder against television, Bristol Palin charged as accessory

I really do not watch Dancing With the Stars. In fact, I couldn't care less about it. I am a white girl with no rhythm, why do I want to watch people who got famous for other reasons attempt to look like they have rhythm? That being said, I could not pass this up:

Man Shoots TV Over Bristol's 'Dancing' Routine

A SWAT team posted up outside a home in Wisconsin yesterday -- after a shotgun toting 67-year-old man blasted his TV because he was so enraged with Bristol Palin's performance on "Dancing with the Stars."
Enraged at Bristol so he shoots his TV. Seems to me like he took his anger out on the wrong target, but as long as he feels better, then rock on.

Local authorities claim Steven Cowan told officers that he felt Palin was not a good dancer and that she was only on the show because of her famous mother.
Obviously she’s not a good dancer, she’s in the bottom three every week. (I don’t know because I watch it, I know because I’m a pop culture junkie.) How she managed to stay is completely beyond my comprehension.

As for her only being on the show because of her famous mother, I have to say, “duh.” She is not the first to be on TV because of famous relatives and she sure won’t be the last. Given that, I don’t know that your TV had to suffer, dude. (Unless, of course, it was an old CRT and your wife said you couldn’t have a new LCD until that one bit the dust. So, perhaps Bristol and her famous mother just did you a favor. When you get out of jail, you might just have a new TV waiting for you.)

Officials say Cowan was so pissed after Monday's show -- that he fired at his television set and then aimed the gun at his wife ... though she managed to escape the house.

However misplaced, I can understand shooting the TV. But turning the gun on your wife? What did she do to feed that rage? Did she vote for Bristol every week?

The SWAT team surrounded the home -- but negotiators were able to talk Cowan into surrendering early Tuesday morning. Authorities claim Cowan suffers from bipolar disorder.
Surely you jest, he’s completely normal to me.

Cowan was charged with 2nd degree reckless endangerment and could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
Elitist reporter comment: First of all, we don’t do “2nd.” We actually spell it out. It should be “second-degree reckless endangerment.”

Furthermore, the sentence would flow so much better if it were rewritten this way: “Cowan was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and, if convicted, could face up to 10 years in prison.” See how much better that sounds?
