It's still all about my thesis..

I am still on and about writing my seminar paper, there is simply no end in sight. But I finally managed to compose a really good introduction.... cough cough.... I really like it!
Ramazan is over today, so we are all over happy, and my Lurve's Mommy surprised me in such a lovely way- she got me a present! I was really speechless and kept hugging her for three times at least! Than we had such a laugh about Seid's bro, when we were buying Kebab. The guy in the Kebaberia got a phone call from Seid's bro, who wanted to tell us, to bring him also one. Imagine, instead of calling on our cells... ha ha.. I couldn't manage- I was laughing for 10 minutes.
Of course it is again darn cold, raining and grey- autumn has arrived within it's full strength-I feel totally unmotivated! I just wanna cuddle and sleep! Anyways, I am off to wake up my Heart, otherwise he's up to a 12 h sleep again.

Andie McDowell

Having neglected my blog entries last week, I thought I'd better get my act together and start posting more regularly. So here is Andie McDowell. It's the first one I've done in marker on this particular sketch paper and I don't think I'll be using it with markers again. There is an annoying tendency for the ink to bleed. Yesterday was quite good from a drawing/painting perspective. Managed to do a couple of watercolour sketches in the field. The first one is one I intend to return to, the second was a more studied sketch. I was going to get out and about for a walk but I found a good position in the middle of the road, so decided the car might be safer, with the added bonus I could listen to the radio. I'm not particularly pleased with either sketch, they both needed more time, so I will probably try again or maybe revisit the scenes? I haven't quite cracked the logistics of carting paints around yet but I'm refining my kit to improve that aspect.

AC Milan won!!!!!! Inter lost!!!! AC Milan won!!!!! INTER LOST!!!!

Best weekend for sure y'all!!! There is nothing better than a derby between AC Milan (the great and best club ever) versus the rednecks from Internazionale. Nothing better, espacially when we win it. And so it happened yesterday, when Ronnie (Ronaldinho Gaucho) scored after a great assist from Kaka. It was a fierce game, and we knew better ( than Mourinho- the coach of the bastards Inter). Sheva played and so did Maldini. Fabulous! I love AC Milan!! I love them so much!
Went out to test my Hunk's new Cam ( he bought one with his bro ), and I already hate it, coz I look like a lame farmer's daughter on all pics ( I guess it is absolutely not the fault of the cam...). Apart from that, the weekend's been pretty peaceful. We tried to get further with our homeworks, and were more or less successful. At least it was a warm weekend, unlike today.
Oh I hate autumn...
My dearest Ulla had her first day at University today, and when we talked via phone, she sounded pretty excited. That was so good to hear. I am glad at least she is happy to attend school, unlike me :-).

Another quick sketch

I've just realised I haven't posted anything for nearly a week, where does the time go! I've been exploring textural techniques and working on my oil painting for most of the week. I've not progressed very far with Marilyn, maybe tomorrow. I've had some really positive feedback from my Cricket caricatures, lots of talk about orders but nothing more concrete yet. I'll just have to keep plodding along. I'm trying to maximise my drawing opportunities and hone my watercolour skills. As a result spent some time restoring a box I got from a car boot sale for £1 on Saturday. It's designed for oil paints and was full of some very ancient paints and is bigger than I wanted but will do until I can find a better one.

This is a quick sketch I did on Wednesday night. I don't know who she is, the picture was an advert.

Writing my thesis... God help me out....

There is nothing worse than writing a thesis about the Inquisition in medieval Italy. It simply sucks. There is so little material for the specific topic I have to pen about! I will have to invesitgate in the National Library again. Sucks big time.

I am currently at my Lurve's. Yesterday we went into the forest. We got lost. It was not funny. I was scared. It was cold. It rained. It was foggy. It was muddy. One tree had in it's middle- exactly on my eye-height something that looked like a ghost-face. I nearly suffered a heart-attack. I saw two roes. That was it. Afterwards I got banana juice with wheat beer to calm down. Next time I am gonna think twice before wandering around with my Hunk. Twice if not three times....
In parallel to my thesis I am working on a little book- some art thingy- for my boyfriend. Drawing and writing things you know- to show him some affection, since he claims jokingly or to enkindle me, he misses it. For now I made only six pages full- which means I have to find some ideas for 90 more pages at least.... Love my ideas....

And some electrifying news for the end : Kanye West realeses his brand new album one month earlier- that is in ...November! Brazilliant!!!!! Can't wait. It MUST be pluperfect! I mean Graduation was simple amazing and perfect... It's truly a masterpiece... I can listen to it again and again and again...
Back to work.

Marilyn Monroe

I've spent today's practice sessions working on Marilyn Monroe. Today's image was a quick sketch of a young Marilyn without the high gloss polish she developed later on. I felt like doing a black and white picture for a change. I did 2 larger A3 pictures, the first made her look more like Kylie Minogue (Note to self, must have a go at Kylie sometime) I'd started to paint it before I'd decided to start again. The second picture is a better likeness, I've got as far as inking in and will start painting tomorrow.

I've uploaded an image for sale on ebay. Now I've sorted the process out it shouldn't take too long next time. I've just got to decide which images people will want to buy. Or create some...

Cricket Caricatures

Here are the pictures as promised. I'm really pleased with them, I think they mark a significant step towards the professional finish I've been aiming for. They are both Watercolours, so aren't as vibrant or Smooth as the marker pens. I've photographed them through the cellophane which has given an interesting effect in places!

I hate studying, I really hate it! But what you have to do, you have to..or so. I am just done with L'imperfetto, Futuro Semplice, Trapassato Remoto, Il comparativo, Il imperativo, let's say I know il passato remoto and now I have to learn only il condizionale presente, and I am done with grammar. Tomorrow I have to learn some (a few pages only) vocabulary, and on Monday in between I have to repeat everything I know , about Seta.... I am so cheesed off mentally.. and also physically- we got up at five in the afternoon! Imagine that?! If my Mom knew, I'd be dead right now...
Talked to Ulla a bit on the phone, and also to Tita... She actually reached Susi, who seems to be fine, so I am relieved... (we did not hear from her for ages, so we were worried..).
Okay I am back to imperare (= to study in italiano), so is my Love. And while I am doing this, I am listening to Kanye West. After Can't tell me Nothing, this one is one of his very best (well all are outstanding actually).

Jennifer Anniston

I finished the commission yesterday. Two A3 watercolours of retiring members of a cricket club. I'll be able to post them tomorrow, as they're being presented at a cricket dinner tonight, possibly even as I write. I finished them on Thursday and they were handed over yesterday, client was happy and I got paid, so I was.

I spent most of yesterday trying to sort out how to put images in a database of my artwork, still no success so feeling VERY frustrated. If anyone reading this can offer any advise, it would be appreciated? I'm using Open Office but I think I need to upgrade as I could write the tables and forms but not edit them once they were saved, and I still can't get the individual pictures into the files, just the same one on ALL of them.

Today has been much better, I returned to the celebrity marker pen caricatures. Here is Jennifer Anniston in a stretch limo.

Studying, studying and...studying

Yesterday we celebrated Assal's and Jana's b-day's. And today I am totally cheesed off, especially since I literally fucked the whole-biorythm-thingy I had been working on for weeks. Gone and gone. The bday itselves were more some sort of Ladies Night, with Grey's Anatomy and stuff, some champagne and chatting. We got home around 2 a.m and I was supposed to get the first train to Hannover at 6 a.m! I had to pack first and than I fell asleep- imagine that I woke up 5 minutes before my alarm clock went off, which is a miracle! Things like this only happen, when I am überexcited and/or travelling somewhere. Apart from that I put on my hardest efforts into staying in bed as long as it gets. Anyways, I got to the station a few minutes before the train left and my Love picked me from the station. Imagine that he attached a pretty sunflowe pic to one of the walls at the station, because I love them so :). It was so wonderful seeing him again after almost three days ;). I really do love him much!
Now I am learning Italian, since my Love went to work and have to write a special poem. Oh Geez. Okay back to work!

Progress report

The commission is going well, although finding time to do any of it over the weekend has been a nightmare. Also the children keep having appointments during my "child free" time which has been cramping my style. I've completed one of the pictures and I am at the colouring stage of the second one. Hooray, I'm past the inking in stage! I hate that part because it's when it can all go horribly wrong.

Busy, busy...very busy!

Getting things in my new appartment done- and that will last til Wednesday. Than I am off to my Precious :). Believe it or not, but I miss him like crazy once he is not with me.
Apart from that, a few things hit me. More personal.

Were out and about with Assal, Funda and Jana- in a fancy restaurant. The food was so delicious. Just came back, and I feel so damn tired. Anyways, gonna finish the last episode of Grey's Anatomy and go to bed. I need some sleep. I need it bad!

Freddie Mercury

Well, as promised, here is the late great Freddie Mercury. I've gone for an earlier image, I always preferred him with long hair. I still can't make my mind up about the spotlights. Apart from not being round, a matter which will probably result in some tweaking later, and I know how! I'm still not sure whether the sun ray effect is working. I think I'm going to have to sleep on it and review the situation in the morning.

I'm probably not going to be posting much over the next couple of days as I've got a commission! I'm very excited about it, but details will have to wait until I can publish them without ruining the surprise. There is always the possibility, however slim, that one of the potential recipients will see the image before they receive it, and that's not right!

Jim Carrey

Well this is Jim Carrey. Not my best likeness by a long chalk but quite a pleasing result nonetheless. It has not been a productive few days from the portrait/caricature front. The oil paintings are going quite well, but they're a still life and landscape. I've been playing with ripple effects in oil, as you can see below.

I think I prefer the bottom one. I was intending to work them more but something about the simple rendering of the shapes was quite appealing. These were done about 2 weeks ago but I've only just felt happy about putting them on the scanner bed, oil takes soooooooooo long to dry! Definitely a watery them going on today. I can't say that I consciously planned things that way! Just a process of evolution I suppose.

Believe it or not- but we have wonderful sunshine here in northern Germany! That gives you as a person so much extra-power for the whole day. It is so beautiful outdoors! Anyways, I am again at my hunks' parents' house, studying, while he is at work. I have a guilty conscience, since I kept talking to him throughout the night, and he must be half-dead now. But these were higher powers, meaning I had to sort things out. And I am so glad he thaught me to talk, and not to keep things for me, that bother me. It feels so much better now, even though I think I am a way to vain sometimes.
Just talked to Stephan (my friend from Chile)- haven't seen him for weeks!!!!He is one of the most positive persons I have ever met. Once you see him, you feel some good spirit, and he can't help not to smile!
Anyways, I am now back to study and read for Italiano. Just wanted to mention, that Federer won the US Open (he faced Britain's Murray in the finals). Congrats Roger!

Gorgeous weekend!

It's Sunday, and I must say that my resumee of this very weekend is better than perfect! My <3and me came back to Gottinga on Friday (after missing three or four trains). Assal was still in Kassel, so we had the flat for us only ;). Got up at 5 a.m the next morning, to catch the first train to Hamburg, to spend the whole day there. I must tell you- it was amazingly great. I can tell you one thing- Hamburg is the northern's Munich! After 7 hours of shopping we went back, to find Funda and Assal drinking Nemiroff (Ukrainian Vodka) a la maison. So we joined the girls- the eve was so great. We eventually ended up playing "Flaschendrehen"- a typical German teenie-game, ni which you use an empty (optical) bottle, turn it around and ask the person on which it points whether he/she wants to answer a question or do something. It was really great, since we were only four it was let's say quite intimate, and we learned a lot of stuff about each others (and some things made me love my hunk even more). After that we went to bed, and my Lurve just told me how much he loves me and that he wanted to eat me for my answers I had given during the game:). Today was goodie, Funda came over and we played "Risiko", escorted my Love to the station (he comes tomorrow to fetch me) and talked for hours (accompanied by some white wine) with Assal. Now it's time to go to bed. I have some stuff to do tomorrow, plus pack, since I am gonna spend two day's at my <3>house. Nighty night!

Heath Ledger - round 2

Finally got around to another attempt at Heath Ledger. So many things were bugging me about the shading on the last one. Decided to go for the "Night's tale" image, it suits him so well.

Spent some time today sorting out online gallery submissions. I've not put many pictures on them yet but I've signed up with Yessy.com and the Saatchi gallery's "Your gallery" I need to sort out links and get some more work scanned to submit. For "Your gallery" I will need to be more selective as there is a limit on how man y pictures I can submit, fortunately Yessy has unlimited submissions.

Oh and one urgent thing..

Back in Germany!

I am finally back in Germany. I am busy studying for one exam, and trying to divide my time for hunk and friends. Though it is not easy. Some people do not get the message.....
Anyways, was @ Yannick's ( who studies Italian with me) farewell-party, since he is leaving for Bella Italia (along with many, many others..like Lucia, Merle, Filip and Cristofero) .Big times I tell you! I knew nearly every single person there- Gottinga is a small spot after all! I think I decided to go home as the last one at six a.m- and it was a Tuesday. I could not sleep once I came back home, so I decided to tidy up my room.

Now I am studying in my hunk's room at his parent's house - going than to Gottinga- to spend some time there, and tomorrow we are off to Bremen and Hamburgo!

Oh but there is one thing I must add : Congrats to Mari and Youssef- wedding is set for the 18th! I wish I could be there as well. Well I will be with my thoughts at least! Much love from me at this point!

Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and..Murray are the ones to appear in the Semi's! Nice line-up, ain't it?! Okay I am back to work. Though it sucks to study now! I think it is all news for now anyways!

Here is the completed picture, I'm still not happy with it but it's OK. I've been doing more general artwork recently that I am happy with, so I thought I'd upload a couple of these, might have to do another blog! Naa!

This is an unfinished picture, the hair isn't right yet. It's also still wet so I had to photograph it hence the funny yellow colour. I thought I'd better post something, even if incomplete as I haven't posted since Friday.

I've been experimenting with watercolour techniques, thought I'd take a few risks and chose Vera because I was interested in her face and her blouse.She was on the cover of the Telegraph magazine. I can't say I know who she is.
