Kitchen Utensils: Spoons

A spoon is a piece of cutlery with a shallow bowl-shaped container and a handle; used to stir or serve or take up food.

Kinds of spoon

dessert spoon — a spoon larger than a teaspoon and smaller than a tablespoon
runcible spoon — a fork-like spoon with a cutting edge; coined by Edward Lear
soupspoon, soup spoon — a spoon with a rounded bowl for eating soup
sugar spoon, sugar shell — a spoon for serving sugar; often made in the shape of a seashell
sundae spoon — a long-handled spoon used for mixing drinks or eating desserts served in a sundae glass.
tablespoon — a spoon larger than a dessert spoon; used for serving
tea maker (also tea infuser) — a covered spoon with perforations
teaspoon — a small spoon used for stirring tea or coffee; holds about one fluid dram
wooden spoon — a spoon made of wood. A wooden spoon is also
an imaginary prize supposed to be given to the person or team that finishes last in a competition.

Spoon bending


Uri Geller (1946 -) is an Israeli psychic (someone who claims to be able to make things happen by using the power of their mind). He often appears on television and seems to be able to bend objects such as forks ans spoons without touching them, though some people think this is just a clever trick.
