Language, Letters & Numbers

* E number

E number is a number with the letter E in front of it which appears in the list of ingredients on containers of food or drink in the UK. Each E number represents a different chemical that has been added to the food or drink.
In the US these substances are shown by their chemical names:
Pork, Salt, Breadcrumbs (with colour E160c), Preservatives E250, E252.

* Section Eight

A Section Eight is an order that somebody should by dismissed from the US army because of a mental illness. The character of Clinger in the television show M*A*S*H always dresses in women's clothes and pretends to to be crazy because he wants to get a Section Eight.
