George Steinbrenner attending Series opener

As told by Hal Steinbrenner last nigh, Steinbrenner will "absolutely" be present at Yankee Stadium for Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday night.

Hal was saying"I think all these players are doing this for him," . "We want to win this whole thing for him. I think we feel like he's here being a big part of it."

George Steinbrenner, 79years old, has not been in good health in recent years and has not attended a game in the Bronx since the home opener in April.

"I can tell you he'll be excited to be here Wednesday night," Hal confirmed. "That's for sure. It means a lot to him. It's been a lot of years. A lot of years. It's been six, and [Joe] Girardi has done a great job and we're all proud. The whole organization is proud of this team."

George Steinbrenner officially handed over the control of the Yankees to Hal last November.
