More Than Just A Plant: Lavender

Lavender is a plant with stems of small strongly smelling pale purple flowers. Its Latin and scientific name is Lavandula. It is usually collected for its scent and for decoration. The term lavender calso refers to the dried flowers and stems of this plant, used for giving stored clothes, sheets, etc a pleasant smell.

Lavender is used in the making of perfumes, toiletries and soaps. Lavender water is a perfume made from lavender oils and alcohol. Lavender water is rather old-fashioned and is connected especially with older upper-class ladies.

For its pleasant colour and delicate taste it is specifically recommended for culinary use.
Lavender essential oil is useful, and has many health benefits. it is very effective for bites and stings, headaches, colds, flu, insomnia, bruises, stress, and muscle aches. It is used widely used in aromatherapy.
